Angelique Michelle is bent over, smiling. She is wearing a yellow dress and a demin jacket.

Hey y’all, I’m Angelique Michelle.

Discover Yourself though travel, personal stories, and do so in incredible style. I’m a wonderer and wanderer. I’ve lived and worked on 3.5 different continents. (I only stayed in South America for half the required time to officially live there.) These experiences have opened my eyes to the various ways of life.

I’ve hiked the Amazonas, climbed an active volcano, and eaten all the vegetarian food I could find. I’ve made more friends that I’m worthy of and gained a craving for continuous learning and growth. Thank you for being here and spending your time with me.

intent.

Welcome to intent. An encapsulation of my growth. As I embark on this journey of living the life I want to lead, I wanted to document and reflect during the process. Each edition showcases featured podcasts, documentaries, or books (sometimes all three) that I find to be essential on my road to continuous growth and education. I’ll be highlighting strong perspectives that shift the way we view ourselves, our value, and our place in the world. Everyone has a story to tell, it’s up to us to decide to listen.

Instilling Wanderlust

In 2024, I’m going to instill a sense of wanderlust in my students. You cannot do anything without first knowing about it. I want to show them that there are endless possibilities, and the only limitation is their imagination.

Hometown Culture

We were quite literally born into a family, society, race, that we didn’t actively choose. Think about something that reminds you of your childhood home. Is it possible that you’ve been experiencing and appreciating someone else’s heritage without even knowing?

duffle vs duffel

How you present yourself to the world and express your self is very much dependent on the culture and country you grew up in. Consider the way you use your mother tongue and how that impacts the way you communicate with the outside world.

Let’s Unpack Cultural Norms

I was seeing and experiencing the world through the lenses of an American, and a Black American at that. My experiences weren’t pure in appreciation. Each destination was being measured against America.

the duffel

the duffel, a place where we unpack cultural norms and check-in to a more global perspective. My experiences abroad have shaped the way I view the world. It has led me to question what we each consider “normal” and how much of that is shaped by the nationality we were assigned at birth. How differently would my mindset be if I were Thai or French? Would I express love any differently or weigh my experiences with an all together different metric? Let’s unpack these concepts together.
